World Cloud Security Day: What’s on the Minds of IT Leaders Today?

If we have learned something about cloud security, it is this: everyone has something to share or say about it.

From top-notch IT CxOs to security experts, the topic has sparked debates, concerns, and some fascinating facts. So, keeping World Cloud Security Day, IndiaIT360, as always, thought of doing something different. This time we didn’t ask for reports; you might be thinking statistics, no, it isn’t, so predictions, none. We simply asked IT leaders what they have to speak about regarding cloud security as per their wish. No prompts. No boundaries. Just raw, unfiltered thoughts on cloud security.

The response? It’s truly thought-provoking, a mix of truth, sharp insights, and even a few surprises.

Let’s hear what they have to say.

Dr. Aditya Khullar, the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) at Adani Digital Labs, says, Firstly, as a bare minimum, implement multi-factor authentication (MFA) and strong encryption for data at rest and in transit, while adhering to the principle of least privilege to limit access. Frequent backups, network controls like firewalls, and leveraging cloud provider security tools further enhance protection. Finally, conduct regular security assessments and train staff to minimize human error, ensuring a robust defense tailored to the ecosystem.

Mitul Shah, serving as the Deputy CISO at Bill Desk, says, Implement least privilege access, continuous monitoring, and strong encryption to secure cloud environments effectively.

Dr. Yusuf Hashmi, the Group CISO at Jubilant Bhartia Group, says, Zero Trust is the foundation—assume breach, enforce least privilege, and continuously verify access to secure the cloud effectively.

Sujoy Brahmachari, CIO and CISO at Rosmerta Technologies Limited, says, Cloud security is a shared responsibility between providers and their clients. Robust security measures are crucial when you run your business systems. I believe proactive monitoring/correction, encryption, and access controls are essential for safeguarding all classified information.

Sandesh Raut, the Chief Information Security Officer at L&T, says, Cloud Security Posture can be enhanced by implementing a zero-trust model with strong Identity management, continuous monitoring and encryption.

Mahindra Sutar, CISO & AVP at Onsurity, says, Regular rotation of access credentials combined with least-privilege permissions is the foundation of effective cloud security.

Bhudev Kumar Das, CISO at Numaligarh Refinery Limited, says, Implement strong identity and access management (IAM), enforce least privilege, enable encryption, monitor continuously, and apply automated security updates.
